Motivations for the Adoption of Women's Recreational Hockey Participation Survey
Women Hockey Players,
As you may well be aware, female hockey is on the rise. Young girls everywhere are registering to play the game, which has evolved rapidly thanks to strong national development programs and global level exposure (World Championships and Olympic Games). Young players can now aspire to play at an elite level of hockey and have many high profile women players as role models.
However, the popularity of hockey is not just happening at the youth and elite levels. There are many adult women who are now choosing to play the game of hockey, regardless of their youth experience. The purpose of this research is to learn more about this phenomenon, estimate its scope and assess the motivations of the adult women who are choosing to play the game.
As a professor whose research focuses on marketing to women and sport sponsorship, I am leading a study (with Dr. Norm O’Reilly of the University of Ottawa) to explore the various factors that are driving adult women to adopt and participate in the sport of hockey. If you are interested in participating in this study to support this research and aide in advancing knowledge about women’s hockey, you are asked to follow this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MRGZD7W to complete the on-line survey. It is estimated that the questionnaire will take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Please note that at no time will you be asked to provide identifying information and that your responses will never be linked back to you. All data will be presented in summary data format only. So, your participation is entirely anonymous. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, you can skip a question or you can also choose to withdraw from the study.
The results of this study will help further promote and develop women’s hockey at all levels and will contribute to new knowledge in the areas of sport participation, leisure involvement, marketing to women and sport marketing and sponsorship. Results will be shared with organizations working in areas related to women’s hockey in an effort to improve the sport and sport participation.
