#CARHACares is a promotion where CARHA Hockey hopes to give back to the hockey community, specifically to people who work so hard to make said community a better place.

Four times a year, we are going to be running the #CARHACares promotion, where we ask for submissions from teams, leagues and tournaments to hear about how they're contributing to charities or causes in their community.

This time around, we got great feedback.

The recipient of our $200 donation is the Goulbourn Men's Recreational Hockey League, led by league president Dave Radbourne and submitted by Mark Rafuse.

This league held their 9th annual golf tournament this year, which has raised over $60,000 since inception thanks to the tournament organizing team and the generous support of local sponsors. They have supported minor hockey, the Ottawa Humane Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and many more.

Well done!

Reading all of our submissions of the community's generosity made us want to be more generous, too. We're happy to contribute an additional $50 to each of the following causes:

  • Michael Guy and their annual volleyball tournament supporting various charities, this year being the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation
  • Roberta Ruff and her Sault Ste. Marie league that partake in a tournament every year to raise money for Jump Start
  • Robby McPhee and the Muskoka Old-timers, who support the Annual MS Walk in Bracebridge, KidSport, and their annual food drive
  • Ralph Haugland and the Greater Vancouver Old-timer Hockey Association, who gather hockey gear every year and donate to Rec for Kids

The hockey community continues to be the greatest community on earth, especially in our amazing country.

Keep up the great work!
