In 2006, Liz Ohle started something incredible in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Motivated by the struggle of beginner women in hockey, she used the prime Sunday ice time she was gifted to create a welcoming space for players.
“You know, I’ve had women start crying just putting on the equipment, because they never thought it would be for them. Everyone is terrified and I tell them that it’s normal.”
Liz's initiative, known as Liz's Sunday Game, serves as the inspiration behind the new documentary The Golden League (on Bell Fibe TV), dedicated to breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity in hockey.
