CARHA Hockey World Cup Tournament Information

Here you will find information detailing new features and changes for the 2012 CARHA Hockey World Cup.

On-Ice Information

  • All semi-finals and finals games will feature a 3-man officiating system
  • Each game will be played with a 3 stop-time period format (12, 12, and 15 minutes)
  • For teams looking for warm-up games, free friendly exhibition games are available. Contact us to request a game
  • For all traveling teams free practice ice will be available. Ice availability is set on a first come, first serve basis so be sure to contact us to reserve your time


Transportation Information

For all European teams we are working with the respective airlines to have larger planes fly from Toronto, ON to Sault Ste. Marie, ON to ensure all teams and their equipment arrive in Sault Ste. Marie as required.


Hotels and Accommodation Information

Just announced - CARHA Hockey has selected seven hotels to accommodate World Cup participants. All seven locations have undergone extensive renovations to host this event. Visit the hotels page to find out more information about each hotel. Information on the hotel packages will be released shortly.


Arena Information

All tournament games will be played in a select group of five arenas, including the state of the art Essar Centre which is home to the Soo Greyhounds. Other facilities inlude:

  2. McMeckan Centre
  3. PeeWee Arena
  4. Rankin Arena
  5. Essar Centre
