MOM'S NIGHT OUT WAS A BIG SUCCESS!
Learn the game. Improve your game. Grow the game.
At the end of April, 16 females joined coaches Kristan and Kim for a skills development evening in Ottawa to check out the game or brush up on skills. We're thrilled to be involved with Mom's Got Game for the second year, and their funding helped make this in-person session possible! Moms and mother figures engaged in physical activity, coaching or playing sports positively impact their family and others' involvement too. Click here to learn more and view the research. We want to thank Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC), supported by the Government of Canada, for funding our program through their Mom's Got Game initiative.

We're currently working on our new Play the Game program, supporting the growth of adult recreational hockey throughout Canada for all experience levels. We rounded up some of the highlights making news recently:
 
  • Congratulations to the Cape Breton Blizzard Female Hockey Association, this year's Kraft Hockeyville winners! The $250K prize money will support their dream of having an arena dedicated to female hockey teams.
  • Mikyla Grant-Mentis signed a landmark deal with the Premier Hockey Federation's Buffalo Beauts, becoming the highest-paid player in women's hockey.
  • Chloe Primerano was drafted by the Vancouver Giants, becoming the first female skater ever to be taken in a Canadian Hockey League Draft.
  • U.S Women's and Men's National Soccer Team players achieve equal pay with a new historic collective bargaining agreement. 
  • In other exciting soccer news, FIFA named three female referees and three female assistants for the 2022 World Cup, the first time female referees will officiate a men's World Cup.
