MANON LACASSE DROPS CEREMONIAL PUCK
Manon Lacasse, a long-time friend and advocate, continues to make a lasting impact on women's sports! Manon is the first woman to endow her scholarship for any women’s Gee-Gees team at the University of Ottawa. The scholarship was announced in 2020, providing a legacy that will continue helping student-athletes financially on the Gee-Gees women’s hockey team.

On October 21, the Gee-Gees had a chance to honour Manon as she joined for the ceremonial puck drop! She previously made history by being the first-ever female referee at the CARHA Hockey World Cup.

  • Big news this past weekend in the St. John's Junior Hockey League! Leah Rideout became the first female linesperson in the league, and one night later, Clare Howie became the first female to referee in the league, the highest level that a female has refereed in Hockey NL.
  • Saroya Tinker has officially launched the Black Girl Hockey Club in Canada! Learn more about BCHC's mission, which focuses on making hockey more inclusive for not only Black women but also for family, friends and allies.
  • Riikka Sallinen of Finland became the ninth woman inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame! A historic moment for her and the growth of women's hockey as she is the first female player outside of North America to be inducted.
