FERNIE

On October 17th, 2017, tragedy struck the community of Fernie, BC. In an arena accident, the community lost three lives and the use of the arena. The Calgary Flames Foundation stepped up and donated the boards to build an outdoor rink. The community also rallied and donated countless hours to make sure the citizens of Fernie had a place to skate before Christmas that year. The ODR has been a fixture in Fernie ever since and has hosted many pick-up games, public skating, Timbits tournaments and even our annual Figure Skating Carnival It has been and continues to be a huge asset for our community. We believe it has one of the greatest backdrops of any outdoor rink in the world!

   VANCOUVER ISLAND

I've lived on Vancouver Island for 20 years and only once have I been able to play hockey on ODR and it was the best day ever with my son on the lake 3 mins from our house.
